Dear Friends in Christ,
It is with great joy that we are able to write again concerning the ministry in Massachusetts. I trust this letter finds each of you in good health enjoying the blessings of the Lord. As always, our family would like to say, "Thank You" for your prayers and support as we labor for the Savior in New England.
As I look back in our calendar, the summer has been very active. We have continued the work on the church in two manners. First of all, the church building is coming along very nicely. There have been several work days to repair and remodel the sanctuary area. Many have commented on the tremendous change from the former setting. The nursery, Sunday school class, and the downstairs area have come a long way. We look forward to getting these spaces finished. This brings up the second aspect of working on the church building and that is the people who make up the church. It has been a huge task for me to balance both areas of the ministry in that so much needs to be completed with the physical building while so many people need to be ministered to including my own family. The Lord has given great grace in both areas of the ministry.
During the summer, we have had several groups and individuals visit. Our people, especially the young people, have enjoyed getting to meet other Christians. It has been an encouragement in that they were able to see that they are not the only ones serving Christ while living in difficult days. On the other hand, the visitors have expressed their joy in coming to New England in that they have seen the need for laborers in a new way. The Lord has answered our prayers for more laborers. Please be in prayer for Bro. Chris DiGiacomo and Bro. Steven Brock as they are raising support to church plant in Massachusetts. They will be a tremendous blessing to the work of the Lord. Please pray for our ministry as we will be helping them get acclimated to the North Shore area.
As we look forward in our calendar, we are gearing up for the fall months. We are making some special plans for door-to-door visitation just before the cold weather comes. The days are already getting shorter and before long the window of opportunity to reach people in the parks and on the streets will close. Outreach plans are in order for the month of October. Halloween is a big holiday especially in Salem where nearly one hundred thousand visitors from around the world will gather on the thirty first. We want to be there again giving out gospel tracts and CDs.
Please continue to pray for the various ministries here at New Hope Baptist Church: We are praying about starting another church in another city. The church web site now has videos of our services. The "New Hope For New England" TV broadcast is now aired in four cities. Total cost for airing the broadcast thirty minutes each week, $150.00 per....YEAR! The population of these four cities is about 200,000 residents. Pray the Lord continues to open doors that we may do all we can to get into the hearts and homes of those who need Christ as Savior!
In His Service,
Bro. Rick Yearwood & Family |
